SEND and AP Change Programme

The government published the SEND and AP (Alternative Provision) Improvement Plan. This was following the outcome of the SEND review. The aim of the plan was to create a more inclusive society for children and young people with SEND, and those who use AP.

This is the new East Sussex Local Offer. We have launched a test version of it in November 2021 and are inviting residents of East Sussex to help us refine it. The final version will be launched in January 2022.

Does My Child Have SEND?

All children are unique and develop differently. It is normal for parents and carers to be concerned that their child is falling behind in a particular area, or that their child does things differently to other children. Sometimes this will resolve itself and sometimes this can impact a child and their education.

A child or young person has special educational needs (SEN) if they have a learning difficulty or disability which calls for special educational provision to be made for him or her.
